At the Neue Museum (Nuremberg, Germany) was the exhibition, “On The Art of Building a Teahouse: Excursions into Japanese Aesthetics”, which sought to explore aesthetic concepts and crafts associated with the Japanese tea room. At the exhibition sketches and blueprints from HOSOO’s archive of obi bands from the Edo period to the Showa period were on display. Our company of more than 330 years has so far collected about 20,000 hand drafted patterns which we are also working on digitally archiving, in collaboration with the Kyoto University of Art & Design Ultra Factory.
