INUA TOKYO
INUA TOKYO opened its doors to the public in 2018, with a task of creating a clear link to Japan as well as referencing noma’s Nordic heritage. Composed with local materials and Japanese-inspired details, Copenhagen-based OEO Studio’s design concept for INUA is interpreted with a Nordic twist in novel and unexpected ways. Paying careful attention to the qualities of the space, the bespoke acoustic ceiling of exquisite Nishijin fabric from HOSOO balances the bustle of a busy restaurant, kitchen and bar. The ceiling grid and design are inspired by the mathematics and lines of tatami flooring and divide the space by providing ambient zoning. The private dining room also features a transparent curtain from HOSOO, made from the new pattern ‘Moss’ designed by OEO Studio. Photography by Michinori Aoki and OEO Studio.
